Talofa lava

this week I have been working on creating a mosaic as you can see, this is one of the few school values in Edmund Hillary. Firstly, Manaakitanga is about engaging with other people, and managing strong relationships. Also showing care for other people around you. for example, helping loved ones, and encouraging and supporting people, even if they are complete strangers.

Secondly, Whanuangatanga is about maintaining relationships. So basically close connections with one another. Also finding a sense of family connection. A relationship through shared experience, of working together, which provides people with a share of belonging.

thirdly, Rangatiratanga is about the right for Maori people to rule themselves. Self determination, Independence, sovereignty, autonomy.

Lastly, Kaitiakitanga means guardianship and protection towards environment, also if you didn’t know what Kaitiakitanga, Kaitiaki is guardian. and Kaitiakitanga is Maori term used for the concept of guardian of the sky, the sea, and the land.

  1. Kia Ora Exodus,
Did you find doing the mosaic more than once made it easier or did you take my recommendation and use the same mosaic and just change the colours?
Thank you for following the instructions and putting your images into slides. Opening your slides is like opening present from the not so exciting wrapping to the wonderful design of the mosaics inside. I have found it interesting to see what everyone has written about the meaning of the values because after we discussed them we would love for everyone to agree or have a similar understanding.
Thank you for sharing your mahi.

  2. Hello, I’m Lexi from paroa school Greymouth, I like your values, but maybe don’t show a picture of you on every single slide. Also, decorait the first slide so people look at it and want to read it. Other than that, it is really good! Thanks for sharing!
